Why should I take the test?💡 

A dating scan is an ultrasound scan carried out at around 12 weeks of pregnancy to confirm your due date and check how many weeks pregnant you are, any bleedings or any side effects of previous miscarriages if you have. 

How is the test done?💉   

A dating scan is carried out by ultrasound. Ultrasound is made through your abdomen. A sonographer puts gel on your abdomen and holds a hand-held device called a transducer back and forward your abdomen to record your baby’s first image.

During a dating scan, your baby is measured from head to bottom. You soon will know how many weeks pregnant you are, how healthy your baby is developing, when your baby is supposed to arrive. Don’t stress yourself out about the due date because only a few women actually go into labor on their due date. Just think about the month so that you know when you’re supposed to be mentally and physically prepared.  

For an abdominal scan, you may need to have a full bladder because it pushes your womb up to have a better and clearer picture. Take a full cup of water and hold it in, don’t go to the toilet!
